Policy Priorities

RILPAC’s policy priorities are developed through recommendations of the Platform Committee. In 2020, RILPAC's policy platform centers on education equity, immigration, healthcare, and more.

policy ISSUE:
EDUCATION

A 2017 report by the Annie Casey Foundation found prospects for Latinx children in Rhode Island to be the worst across the nation. RILPAC supports an education system that provides all our state's children with the targeted supports they need to succeed, and advocates for equitable structures that provide much-needed services in vulnerable communities.

policy ISSUE:
IMMIGRATION

In 2017, the Trump administration announced plans to roll back Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, removing protections for nearly 800,000 young people brought to the United States as children. RILPAC supports the continuation of DACA and advocates for comprehensive immigration reform, including a permanent path to citizenship for our state and nation's DREAMers.
